Angkor (Khmer: អង្គរ pronounced [ʔɑŋ.ˈkɔː], lit. capital city, also known as Yasodharapura (Khmer: យសោធរបុរៈ; Sanskrit: यशोधरपुर)) was the capital city of the Khmer city and empire flourished from approximately the 9th to the 15th centuries. This is a great book to take along on your trip to Angkor. There aren't many signs on-site and unless you are paying for a guide, you may miss the contextual history and architectural significance that will make the trip more interesting.

Pro-tip: many locals sell this book at Angkor for a few bucks if you want to wait until you get there/5(37). I had always wanted to visit the Angkor I was looking for some good books on Angkor.

When I saw this book, I immediately bought it inspite of its price. The text is crisp and illuminating. And the photographs are the best I have seen of Angkor. They are so real and Looking at Angkor book that you feel that you are right by: There is a bigger book about Angkor Wat by the same author.

However this is more compact but contains a lot of the information contained in th bigger book. It is written more as a guidebook and as such is very comprehensive and useful to anyone visiting the site/5(10).

An in depth, almost scholarly look at the Beautiful and detailed book on the complete temples of Angkor Wat, Cambodia (including temples in the surrounding area)/5.
